Title: New BPP Console update #132. An error occured while reading the file.
Post by: randydodd on December 16, 2011, 06:17:49 PM
Was notified by Avast BPP that a new console program is available. Had to dig around to find download file. Found and downloaded setup_console_bpp.exe executed it, clikced run, it pops up and says " An error occured while reading the file." So started over. Deelted download, re-downloaded file. Re-executed file, same error. Restarted server. tried again. same error. Any suggestions? seems that no matter what the problem is, this should still work or at least tell me something more detailed.

Yeah, its not the download. Here were my next steps. Go into Task Manager, kill all avast tasks, including stuck and failed BPP install processes. Restart server. Restart the BPP install. It now hangs at "Status: Migrating Features from applications.". Waited 30 mins. Finally, clicked "cancel". Did not cancel. Killed process. Screen went away. Could not restart server. Went back into Task Manager, killed all Avast processes including failed BPP install processes still running. Restarted server. Tried to install again. This time, it actually went past "Migrating features" in about 10 seconds. Then got hung at "Status: Installing Service". Waited 10 minutes. FInally proceeded past "Installing Service." and finished successfully.

24 hours later, and several restarts, BPP 132 is installed.
