Actually I think I found the solution, searching the old board (http://forum.avast.com/offline/forum.theftaware.com/index.html) and the Theft Aware subforum (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=90855.0) (it's confusing to have all these places).

I don't have another sim card at hand right now so I cannot be sure of this but here's what I think should work:

- make sure the option to lock the phone is disabled in Anti-Theft advanced settings and make sure you know how to access it when in stealth mode (i think you need to dial the numeric password in the dialer and place the call, i still have to test this)
- power off your phone and insert new sim
- the new sim should lock the phone
- open anti-theft using your numeric password
- the new sim card should be added to the authorized list

Note also that Anti-Theft has a menu (accessed with the menu button on the main screen) which includes wiping the list of valid sims.

No guarantees, I'm just a new user...
