First question to come in mind is "Why the heck you want to uninstall suchh a great piece of work?"

The add/remove option in the control panel will remove Avast.
Other than that, Alwil offers a uninstall util on their website.

Are you sure you didn't lost your mind? ;D ;D ;D

You can try the Avast! uninstall utility located here (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_uninstall_util.html).

I take it you're not referring to 4.5?

Osborneuk, those issues in 4.5 doesn't make avast! bad product. Every product especially when releasing beta upgrades, has problems and issues. If you think different, why are you still using it ? Anyway, 4.5.536 is out and most likely fixed all those issues by now. Vlk said it's a last beta version before releasing final build probably during tomorrow...

If we don't trust our antivirus and our great Alwil team that is giving everything to fix those issues for us to be able to secure our systems much better than with other antivirus tools, then I don't know what should we do... start using Norton maybe ?  :P

Guys, everything I said regarding Norton was sarcastic. I just tried to explain to Osborneuk that Alwil is working hard to fix all those things, and we should believe in them... be with them till the end...

I know awil are working hard to correct the problems and yes I still use it 'cos it's a good product .  I am, of course, still without the ability to check outgoing mail.  But having checked incoming and the PC why do I need to check outgoing?  I can live with that.

osborneuk, have you tried the any of the beta builds (the current version is 4.5.536)? I'd be glad to make sure if the problem is solved.

We'll be releasing it as an official (non-beta) build later today...

Stopping malware is not just a matter of keeping your own system clean. It also means that if a system gets infected, prevent that the malware isn't spreading itself any further, and that is where the outgoing mail scan comes in (along with some other things).
