I am facing huge battery drain an my lg optimus one(P500) with a custom rom. I had really good battery life before I installed avast mobile Security app which, while installing, prompted me to install anti-theft too with root permissions. Looking at the battery stats, I see that my phone stays awake all the time even when I am not using the phone( especially during the night, I have seen more than 70% drain).
Please help me.

There is no settings of battery or power management inside Avast and whole app incl. antitheft does not touch these; what do you mean awake? The screen is always on? Could you please take a look inside scanner log? Thank you.

It could be your custom rom thats making it.
Could also be your battery or phone.
I havent noticed any higher batterydrain on my phone.

The log looks clean. It just says it took some 25 seconds to scan.
By awake I mean that it looks like your app is holding a wakelock or something like that which is causing it to not go to sleep. I found out that it is being awake by checking the battery stats and it showed unusual awake time in the graph.
I disabled anti-theft option but still there was battery drain. Then I removed it as device administrator and switched my phone off and switched it on again. And then killed both the apps on start. Now my phone again has just about 2% drain overnight.

Well I tested your case at many scenarios and avast is no way touching the battery; antitheft could drain it only in case, if the device is marked as lost and some commands for call forwarding or location sending is used; but you did not mention such a thing. So please could you be so kind and tell me which ROM it is (version, localization, build)? Thank you in advance.

I am using mik_os's custom rom for lg optimus which is just cyanogenmod 7.1 ported for my phone. I have now tested my phone by just keeping the anti-theft app running while closing the anti-virus scanner. This seems to have solved the problem with only a slight increase in battery usage than normal.

Same issue here, avast has held a wakelock for almost 10 since installed and taken most of my battery life.
Samsung galaxy s2, running checkrom v4, darkknight kernel.
Is there an easy fix for this or do you need logs?

To confirm, leaving avast mobile security installed, but disabling anti theft and the issue has gone.
Once fully charged I will reenable to verify the issue can be recreated

no more wakelock.
Leave for a few hours and no problem.
Send another test "locate" and problem recurs.
So, what is happening after a locate is sent? Is this normal behaviour etc?

After locate command the device will start to caching the location and sending it to mentioned or set number. GPS and SMS service could drain battery. I will consult it with developers, thank you for your feedback.

Is it sending it somewhere retrievable?

It should use SMS for sending the location..

Not very helpful, or are you not understanding the issue?
The command gets one location response via sms, then the app holds a wakelock until reboot.
It doesn't send any further location info unless requested.
You said it starts caching location data, where does it cache it to as it's not sending sms data.
If it's caching to a server how is the data accessed, if its caching locally then it's not much use is it?
Either way, how do I stop the wakelock without a reboot?

I'm bumping this to see if it will be fixed soon.
I just got a new Galaxy Nexus about a week ago and installed the app with anti-theft immediately. Since then, I've had MASSIVE battery drain for days at about 20% per hour.
Then I saw the thread and disabled anti-theft yesterday. The battery life jumped immediately to only 10% drain on moderate use.
The anti-theft function keeps Galaxy Nexus awake all the time. Please fix it ASAP.
