Hello!
I am Avast 4.5.523 and The Bat user. Sometimes when I try to send an e-mail, especially with big attachment, i get response "Message cannot be send, server response - r mail, end with "." on line".
What's intersting in fact the mail is sent, despite it remains in folder "Outbox/To Send".
When I close Avast - there is no problem with sendind any files.
Do you know what'sthe problem???
Thanks in advance

Hi Burkow,
that's really strange. Please tell us, do you use any other antivirus, any kind of personal firewall, anti-spam/ anti-spyware, adds removal tool, privacy filter or something like that? Thanks.
Lukas.

Have you tried another mail provider?
-
Hello!
lukor: i use only Avast, Windows standard firewall, SpyBot, A squared (for malware files) and some online scanners. This error apears only when Avast mail scanner is active. When I close Avast problem disapear.
Eddy: I tried three other providers, two other mail programms - still the same.
As I wrote earlier: ALL mails despite this error ARE in fact SENT (they are delivered to the rceiver), but due to this error they remain in Outbox and are sending again and again and again.

Burkow, can you open a DOS window and run:
telnet your_smtp_server 25
and see if you get the welcome message of the server?
In the place of your_smtp_server write your real smtp server address.
-
Technical: only black screen and "202 smtp.wp.pl ESMTP"
when i press Enter, then apears:
"502 unimplemented (#5.5.1)"
that's all
-
Technical: I tried other email account I got welcome screen.

only black screen and "202 smtp.wp.pl ESMTP"
In fact, this should be enough...
The strange is that the messages went and remain ??? :P
Did you check the option 'Keep a copy of the message on Sent items'?
Will this help in anyway?
Which is the size and type of the attached files (if any) on the emails?
-
> Did you check the option 'Keep a copy of the message on Sent items'?
This option is active.
When Avast is closed, everything is ok - sent meesages are located in folder SENT.
But when I run Avast, messages in fact are sent, error anouncement apears, message is still in Outbox. Despite the message is sent it's not placed in SENT folder. This is stragne.
Desactivation of this option didn't help.
> Which is the size and type of the attached files (if any) on the emails?
I tried different types of files. With files less then 10KB there is no problem. But when attachment is bigger then 100KB error apears. Today, when I am back home, I must find out what is size limt, when error does not apears.
The problem started when I update Avast 4 to Avast 4.5.

Hello!
I am having the same exact problem that you did. I'm running Avast Antivirus, Windows standard firewall and Spybot. Did you ever resolve your problem?
-
I am having the same problem. Can anyone please help me?
-
Check if the Bat plugin is installed and active (go to Control Panel->Add or remove programs->avast! Antivirus->Change/Remove->Change and the Bat menu Options->Preferences->Anti-Virus).
