Title: SMS sent to lost phone are billed on the lost phone???
Post by: Gibraltar on February 01, 2012, 12:23:48 AM
Hi,

I've just installed Avast Mobile Security and I've been testing the SMS commands. I noticed that when I send a SMS to the lost phone that SMS is being billed on the lost phone?? Is this normal? What is going on? I was under the impression that these were "normal" SMS and like all the others would be billed to the phone sending the SMS.
Am I missing something?

thank you.

I think I just read somewhere that Avast relies on the sim credit to send SMS replies (location, etc). If this is true what would happen if someone stole my phone and inserted a new sim without credit? Would the phone still be able to reply to SMS commands?

Hello,

you are right - we need the phone's credit to send the reply sms. if a sim card without credit is inserted it cannot reply to your commands.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. It is my understanding that this "limitation" will be minimized with the introduction of the webfront, right?
