My update setting are as follows

1) to update automatically.
2) My PC is permanently connected to net .
3) ask after every hour .

But the problem is that it always gives the server error while updating. So, i have to manually down load and install the updates. I have chosen the proxy setting to be detected automatically.

Ok. Then a few more questions:
OS..? (32/64 Bit - which SP)
Which avast-version..? (Free, Pro, Internet Security)
Other security related software installed..?

Microsoft windows XP version 2002 service pack 2
You should update your Windows XP to Service Pack 3! Service Pack 2 isn't supported since a long time!
