Why the physical memory brakes down on my computer when I´m using newest Avast home edition (FIN) ?
Backround option is Normal not high.
My computer works with WIN2000 pro + sp5 and RAM memory is 256 MB.
Everything was fine yesterday but today it came back ???

Physical memory doesn't break down by using a application. It is a 'mechanical' faillure. If it breaks down, you need to replace it.
What is the exact problem you are having?

Poonet, do you mean that avast is taking all the RAM (or most of it)?
Or, on contrary, you're trying to say that avast is taking the most of CPU?

It´s very hard to explain this proplem in English but I try again. Finnish is my languade :)
My computer physical memory "falls down" none "breakes down" like I said earlier ;) My computer stop working by saying:
"starting physical memory formatting..."
but nothings happen. Only thing what I can do at then it was shutting down my computer and re-starting.
Few days ago I unnistall Avast 4.5 program and my computer act as normal. Yesterday I install Avast again and everyhing was fine untill today :(
I don´t know how much memory Avast is taking but I thought that 256 MB is enough.
Is it possible that "checking memory and starting files " would do this proplem ?

Check your settings for virtual memory. And let us know what they are.

Now it shows that the problem cause when I´m sending mail with Outlook Express 6.0 + sp1
It happens today almost 5 times.
Now physical memory format starts and after that computer boots every single time when problems shows up.
I uninstall Avast 4.5 home edition and everything is fine now. It very sorry because I cannot use it.
Also I use newest version of Zone Alarm.
Someone says the bug is in my transformer and the next one says it´s in my operatinf systen win2000 Pro ???

You still haven't told us what the settings for virtual memory are.
Also disable auto-reboot and if you get a bsod, let us know the exact error. (INFO) (http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak433.aspx)
Don't worry, together we will find a solution for this.

I didn´t because I cannot translate that information in English.
Can you read minibug file DMP ? I can send that.
Boot instructions is to microsoft XP and I don´t have it.
( That is fixed now but I afraid that nothing´s happens cause I already uninstall Avast ??? )

I'm afraid we still don't know what this "memory formatting" should be...
Do you mean a bluescreen? If not, could you create a screenshot of the problem?

Yes bluescreen with running data and error message or what ever it is.
I was trying to send a picture about that bluescreen but where is it ?

OK. In that case I think that you have a "Complete memory dump" set and it's Windows dumping the memory to file (numbers running as percents, i.e. 1-100). It can take a few minutes...
Could you switch to "minidump" (System Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery / Write Debugging Information / Small memory dump) and after the bluescreen appears again (should be just a quick one now), send the latest file from the WinNT\Minidump folder to Vlk's address? (vlk@avast.com)?

Okay. I have 3 minidump files already on my computer by date 12.01.2004 . May I send that or do I just have to install Avast again and wait what happens next ? You need latest minidump...

Anyway, poonet, start by updating your avast installation to the latest version (4.5.546).

Just use the ordinary Updating/Program option from avast! menu...

To get the latest Avast version:
right click the blue ball next to the clock > update > program update
Look at this page http://translation.langenberg.com/ (http://translation.langenberg.com/) for "translation Experts" (6th one down the list). I don't know if they are any good but they do have english/finnish and finnish/english translation.

Is storage truly too few (256 MB)? In my computer I also have Zone Alarm software like I said.

Osaamiseni ei ehkä yllä ihan sille tasolle kuin näillä aktiivisilla foorumilaisilla täällä, mutta kokeillaan jos kykenisin jotenkin auttamaan ja selvittämään ongelman.
Eli, sinulla on nyt viimeisen versio avastista (4.5.546)? Auttoiko tuo päivitys ongelmiin vai vieläkö saat "sinisen ruudun"? Mitä siinä tarkalleen ottaen lukee (tarkka virheilmoitus)? En usko, että muistin loppumisesta on kyse, jossain muualla on nyt vikaa...

Elikkäs, ongelma onkin siinä kun en ehdi kirjoittaa tai ottaa mitään ylös kun sininen läpyskä iskee ruutuun ja sanoo:
"aloitetaan fyysisen muistin alustus" ja numerot juoksee ruudulla
ja samalla kone boottaa itse itsensä (nyt ei enää koska otin rastin pois kohdasta "käynnistä uudelleen". )
Ongelmia ei siis ole ennen kuin annan koneen huilata yön yli ja käynnistän koneeni uudelleen seuraavana päivänä. Menen sähköpostiin (OE 6.0 sp1) ja alan lähettämään postia. Isommat liitteet katkaisevat käytön tai välillä siihen riittää pelkkä viestin lähetys. Tänään kun käytössäni oli vielä Avastin vanhempi versio, kyseinen herja ilmestyi näytölle 5 kertaa ja boottasi koneen yhtä monta kertaa.
Olen nyt käyttänyt tätä uusinta 4.5.546 versiota pari kolme tuntia ei ongelmia ole ollut. Pelottaa vain huominen koska silloin vika iskee jos iskee...
Käytän siis Zone Alarmin uusinta palomuuriohjelmaa (ilmaista) ja
win200 pro sp4 . Telewell TW-EA200 on adsl modeemini.
Prosessori: 900 mhz. RAM: 256 mb Kone: HP Omnibook XE3.
Tehtäväpalkissa on kuulemasta liikaa ohjelmia saman aikaisesti käytössä. Mutta niistä kun mittään ymmärrä niin en osaa niitä sulkeakaan.
Tarkkaa virheilmoitusta en pysty antamaan ennen kuin kone pamahtaa siniselle uudelleen :(
Mitä tässä oikeastaan voi tehdä? Onnistuuko cd:lle tallennus tms. enää vai kaatuuko windows kaikesta ? Time will tell.
Ai niin, myös pikakuvakkeet latautuvat näytölle käynnistäessä aika kauan ja eri asemilla käyminenkin vie jo tehoja. Näyttö on hetkellisesti ilman kuvakkeita...

Siinä siniruudussa pitäisi olla se virhekoodi ja mahdollisesti vielä joku tiedostonimi, joka sen aiheuttaa esim. joku DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop 0X000000D1 tai vastaaava. Eli jos siniruutu tulee vielä, niin koita etsiä tuontyyppistä virheilmoitusta ja sitä tiedostonimeä, joka sen aiheuttaa.

Aiemmissa 4.5-versioissa oli jotain häikkää juuri sähköpostimoduulissa sekä aswTdi.sys tiedostossa, joka aiheutti joissakin tapauksissa sinisen ruudun, mutta uusimmassa 4.5.546 versiossa nuo ongelmat pitäisi olla korjattu. En siis usko, että sinäkään sitä siniruutua enää saat, toivotaan ainakin niin.
Ai niin, myös pikakuvakkeet latautuvat näytölle käynnistäessä aika kauan ja eri asemilla käyminenkin vie jo tehoja. Näyttö on hetkellisesti ilman kuvakkeita...
Tuo kyllä viittaa siihen, että sinulla on paljon käynnistyviä/käynnissä olevia ohjelmia, jolloin kone joutuu käyttämään hyväkseen kovalevyllä olevaa virtuaalimuistia, mutta en usko, että niillä on osaa tähän ongelmaan.
Toivotaan, että tuolla uusimmalla versiolla vika korjaantui. Kirjoittele vielä huomenna (vaikkapa ihan suomeksi) kuinka homma toimii.

Hi, could you try the following fix?
How to install it:
1. Download the file http://www2.asw.cz/misc/aswtdi_fix.zip
2. Unpack its contents to the following locations:
a) <avast>\setup\inf
b) \windows\system32\drivers
(overwrite existing versions)
3. Restart the machine.
Please let me know if it solves the problem.
Note: the fix only works with the latest relase version of avast
(4.5.546).

Now I did it and my computer says: "The following files are already exist do you want to replace it?.
I said: YES :)
I don´t know what happens tomorrow. Maybe this solve the proplem or maybe not.
Something new happens when I re-start my computer. Computer refuse to close off.
Memory ashvserv.exe xxxxxxx doesn´t exist and that boots my computer again :-[

Ei se ongelma ole ndis.sys, koska se on yksi Windowsin omista tiedostoista eikä kuulu avastiin. Avastin ongelma nyt vaikuttaa vain jonkun mutkan kautta tuohon. Jos villin veikkauksen joudun heittämään, niin ongelma liittyy vielä tuohon avastin aswTdi.sys tiedostoon kun kerran julkaisevat muutaman päivän sisällä(?) vielä version 4.5.549, johon sisältyy tuo lataamasi korjaustiedosto. Valitettavasti en pysty tämän enempää auttamaan. Toivotaan, että tuo lopullinen 4.5.549 ratkaisee sinunkin ongelmasi. Voithan vielä tietysti kokeilla tuon version julkistuksen jälkeen viimeistä keinoa ja poistaa koko avast koneelta, puhdistaa perusteellisesti rekisteri ja asentaa avast uudelleen.

Avast on koneelta poissa, mutta murusia on varmaan jossain.
Se korjaustiedosto jonka asensin eilen oli jo olemassa (kuten itsekin sanoit) versiossa 4.5.549 eikä siis auttanut asiaa.
ZA:stakin täällä paljon puhutaan. Sekin periaatteessa voisi olla syyllinen, mutta ZA päivityksetkin oli tehty uuteen versioon.
