Signatures download doesn't start due to error 0x20000011. The current signatures are in bart\data on the rescue cd. I started with rescue cd on Jan. 24,2012. Updates have gone ok till
Feb. 16. I store the updates on a flash memory using always a new directory. I looked around without finding/understanding anything except topic "Workstations not updating - setifaceUpdateFiles code 0x20000011" dated May 12, 2011 speaking about broken package. But if rescue disc signatures are the same of those of the resdent AV program, I don't realize how the inconvenient arised and persists so long: I update my resident avast 6.0 one or more times a day w/o problems. So I ask kindly help and attach the update setup log.
I add the following info, I don't know if you need them:
invoice code #40274055;
item #30044604;
The version displayed by rescue disc is 1.0.6.
Many thanks & regards.

I get the same error when trying to download updates from the rescue disc. hopfully someone from avast can shed light on the issue.
edit: just tryed today 28th feburary 2012 and it is working now. it downloads just under 50mb to the folder selected and proceeds to use the files.

Yup, I also tried it on Feb.28th and to-day too. All is ok. Good luck. ;)

I get this error also. It's because for some reason they stopped providing the 4.0 style virus definitions and that's what the disk is looking for.

It's because for some reason they stopped providing the 4.0 style virus definitions...
Why do you think so..?? -> http://www.avast.com/download-update

they stopped providing the 4.0 style virus definitions
No.
But, anyway, you have few time to use version 4. It will be outdated by the end of this year... tic... tac... tic... tac...

Tell me no all you want, but I looked at the downloaded virus definitions from the rescue cd and they are the newer vpu style, not the older vps. The rescue disk, which uses the 4.0 virus engine, needs to be updated to a newer engine if they're going to completely drop the 4.0 definitions.
