Title: Everytime I restart my computer I get the "Complete your upgrade" screen.
Post by: EmoHobo on February 24, 2012, 11:42:14 AM
I run Windows XP and I updated through the program, now whenever I start my computer this shows up is there any known fix, it's not a huge issue, just kind of annoying.

I have the same problem with two XP computers.
However, on Windows 7 64b it doesn't appear any more.

I guess it may be related with the install Chrome option that doesn't appear in Windows XP but it was present in Windows 7.

One of the XP computers has Chrome installed but the other one no.

There should be an official fix for this.

I have the same issue, I use Windows XP w/ SP3 as well,  it's getting pretty annoying.

DJBone; not sure what your link has to do with this issue.

This fixed it for me

In avast5.ini set ShowSetupOutro to 0. (Disable self defence to do so.)

Don't people read existing threads anymore? Besides, I heard the problem goes away after a few reboots.

Same issue here: Win2000 and Comodo Firewall installed.
I don't know where is the avast5.ini file.

I did this on my XP Pro system and it works great. 8)

The problem is probably caused by the avast! service starting too slowly. It will be fixed.

Good. I'll be thankful when it is.

I'm running Win7 64b with Firefox and IE. No Chrome here. This screen pops up every time I boot up my machine and it's really irritating, so the faster you fix it, the happier I'll be. ;)

I had to do a clean install with the Uninstall Utility to get rid of the "installation almost complete screen" on reboot and new registration.

Tip:  If you don't see the Avast Uninstall Utility in Safe Mode Admin Mode, switch to OWNER and it should be there.

I am sure that Press to Finish Installation Splash Screen on reboot will be fixed with the next release.

I'll say this once, Avast! just better not go down the road of Microsoft and start issuing defective updates, or it's goodbye!
I've waisted enough time over the issue and will not be editing configuration files manually so where is the fix and make it fast please Avast!

AND! use a different verification method for goodness sake. I can't read that rubbish! It take many resets to find one that I can read!

It did for me. One computer only. The others were fine.

I know what the problem is now and RSD was absolutely right..  The option to install Google Chrome did not appear on the "complete your upgrade" window on multiple restarts on my Windows XP computers, eventually it did appear (I don't  why it does or doesn’t appear) but once I had the option to install or not install (I chose not to install Google's “spyware”) Chrome the “complete your upgrade” screen stopped appearing on start up.

I think GOOGLE needs to stay out of other businesses they ruin everyhing with their privacy  invasions.
Avast was a great product and does not need the support of savory organizations like google.
This registration issue causes a GREAT PRODUCT to becomea terrible product.

Ask Mcafee & Norton what happens when your product goes against its own once good performance.
If the Avast makers allow this intrusion its product will become inept and its goodbye to the success to #1.
Don't let other junk programs destroy you.

Now work on the issue of upgrade window always appearing and tell google to hit the road.
Google tries to stick its INTRUSIVE NOSE intoto many applications.
from adobe readers annoying toolbar to java's annoying toolbar to now the Google intrusion on a GREAT PRODUCT.
