Before updating, the Avast recommended settings for the Mail Shield worked perfectly. Now after updating to the new version, I get an error on starting Windows Live Mail.
-
and what does it say....
-
what email providers do you use in WLM ?
1 accounts ports used in WLM? (pop/imap/smtp)
2 ssl accounts detected in the mail shield?
ps: just on a side note, DeltaSync in WLM (for hotmail with MS protocol) is not supported by the mail shield.
-
The only account I use is Gmail When WLM is opened it shows an error in the status bar or if I click the update button. I don't have the correct wording, but it looks as if it's timed-out.

If not, then it is diffcult to say what the problem is......
usually what avast report is that it has dicovered a mail account with SSL settings and that it can not scan it... and Gmail use SSL
Is that it ?

No. It shows 'Authorising' for a few minutes then indicates an error, and no new mail if any is received.

does the error go away if you turn off avast mail shield ?

YES, providing I reactivate the WLM SSL settings.
