HI I was just wondering if any one could tell me when the Streaming updates will start for avast 7 free? I was am just curious to now when this might happen this week some time or next month?
I was also wondering when the stream updates start how much of a bother will it be in terms of Popups coming up all the time? Is their away to disable the defs popups and have the streaming updates update in the background with out driving everybody crazy if this is suppose to happen several times a day?

1. What do you mean..?? Stream updates are already active for quite a while. ;)
2. There are no pop-ups for these updates.

@ Diddy: only the
manual updates (auto updates) will give u def popups. u cannot disable it as it is critical information, but u can reduce the time it popup. look at the screenshots to reduce the time. (please follow NON's advice)

No, manual updates won't give you any, only auto updates do. ;)

You can disable update popup, from Settings -> Updates -> Details -> uncheck "Show notification box after automatic update".

I've been thinking the same thing, that the streaming updates cloud is offline.
It seems as if my Avast cloud update client can't connect to the cloud. It says the "Connection could not be established", even though streaming updates is activated.
Does anyone have a solution? I do not have an active firewall blocking outgoing connections/data.

What is your OS, program version, setting of virus definition updates, ...?

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 Swedish (6.1.7601)
Version: 7.0.1426
Streaming updates are enabled. Program & Virus definitions are set at manual. No proxy & persistent internet connection set.
[I tried switching to automatic updates of the virus definitions, which made the cloud-connection establish correctly without any problems :)]

Yes, that's correct (though not very intuitive, I admit) - streaming updates will work only when virus definition updates are set to automatic.
Streaming updates are not a replacement for ordinary virus definition updates, but rather an addition - so it doesn't really make sense to receive streaming updates without the base definitions.

You also will not get a notification for a streaming update. The only way to see if you have gotten any is to check the Maintenance tab in the GUI. The streaming update is also just a temporary supplement to the last full update. When a new full update package is received, the streaming ones you got in between regular ones are wiped out because they are included in the new full update package.
The connection also seems to only be periodically established. Mine goes on and off many times during the day.
