Title: avast and dialup
Post by: siri_uk on August 25, 2003, 01:17:15 PM
hi

I am currently trying avast as the software seems far better than any other antivirus product I have tried, I have a problem as I am on dialup I keep getting popup boxes on the screen telling me internet connection time elapsed continue waiting this happens if I am offline I have tried adding the useras=1 line to avast.ini but it does not work. Are there any other ways to stop this

TIA

Your mail program probably tries to send/receive mail when you are offline - it keeps the connection established and does nothing. To workaround this, click on "a"-icon, click "Details >>", select "Internet Mail", click "Customize" and select "Advanced" tab. Here you can check "shutdown connection" or set timeout to 0 to disable timeout checking.
