Title: how should avast 7 be setup in windows 7 firewall control (free)?
Post by: truefrogs on April 10, 2012, 12:48:28 AM
i just installed the free version of windows 7 firewall control, i've set rules for avast as follows:
"avast service" to enable all
"avast antivirus" to outgoing only
"avast! antivirus update" to outgoing only

see attachment, and if you notice anything i've set wrong please let me know  ;)

is this how it should be?

btw: i've still got the windows built-in firewall enabled, as recomended for W7FC free firewall, if i set something to "enable all" in W7FC, and the windows firewall has it set to "block incoming connections", i assume the connection will still be blocked by the winows firewall, does anyone know if that's correct?

thanks  :)

ok i've set all avast entries in the firewall to "enable all"
does anyone know if it's actually necessary for avast to have both incoming and outgoing connections enabled?

i've added another attachment, if i've set something wrong please let me know

cheers  :)

The only thing in avast that needs to have incoming allowed is avastsvc.exe. I used Win7 Firewall Control for a while and that's how it worked.
