Title: Outlook 2008--Gradual increase in memory until Outlook hangs
Post by: JimIT on April 18, 2012, 07:00:08 PM
Hi guys,

I'm pulling my hair out a bit over this one.

I have a client with 15-20 computers.  5 have Outlook 2008.  On 3 of them, after opening Outlook, the program will run normally for a few minutes, but after about 4-5 minutes, it leaks memory until it locks up and has to be forcibly closed through TM.

Removing Avast clears the issue up.  Problem is, 2 clients run fine.  They are all running XP Pro, latest SP.  I have checked to see if there's another offending program that is specific to those 3 boxes, and cannot find anything.

Have tried a full uninstall and reinstall, and while this fixed one box for a couple of days, after about a week or so, Outlook began locking up again and soaking up memory.

Any tips/tricks I've missed?  Did a search on this board, but have not found anything concrete as far as a fix.
