Title: error code 0xC0000022. (-1073741790)
Post by: sapphire59 on May 25, 2012, 08:15:30 PM
I just ran my first boot/startup scan, and it found 23 infected files, mostly in System Volume Information\ Restore, and mostly win32 MyWebSearch, PUPgen, and Funweb-B, with 2 different ones in my C:avenger files and one in C:hiberfil.  The problem is that when I asked avast! to fix these files, it said these files couldn't be found.  Then when I tried to send them to the chest, they all had this subject error code.  I'm very much a newbie, so I don't know what this means or what to do about it (if anything).  Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Sapphire59 welcome to Avast! Forum

Error code 0xC0000022. (-1073741790) is given when user system files are tried to move to the Virus Chest.

It would be nice if we could see the results of that Boot-Time Scan. Could you attach a screenshot of the results ? Make sure " File Name and Status " are visible.

Open Avast! > Scan Computer > Scan Logs > Pick the boot-time scan you did > View Results

I'd like to oblige, but I don't know how to do that; remember I'm a newbie! I know what a screenshot is, I just don't know how to make one or attach it.  I'm your basic technomoron.

Sapphire59.

Follow Pondus instructions. Also you can take a look at this instruction:

http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows

Mis instructions to:

Open Avast! > Scan Computer > Scan Logs > Pick the boot-time scan you did > View Results

Can be seen in the screenshot I attached for you.

After you have the Avast! result window open, make sure to expand the window so that we can see " File names and Status " of the files. Use [Alt] + [Impr Pant] keys.

Open Paint > Edit > Paste > File > Save as.. Put it a name and choose file type as .png and save it to an accessible place you remember.

When answering just look for Attachments and other options at the end of the reply box.

It seems you have some " My Web Search " components in your comp. Some security programs detect it as spyware or in this case as PUP, Potencially Unwanted Program. PUP can be used for good or evil but I think you will find out that none in this forum would say nice things about it.

Follow this guide: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

and attach ( do not copy/paste ) logs for Malwarebytes', OTL, and aswmbr.exe on this thread. An expert will be notified.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you; I have a weird work schedule.
I got my problem figured out.  I said I was a newbie & a technomoron, remember?  Turns out all I had to do was be logged in on my admin account to take care of the problem.  Sorry I wasted your time...but thanks for paying attention!
