Title: Getting BSOD with Avast! 7 Free after latest Windows Update
Post by: gwong on June 05, 2012, 03:16:36 PM
I was using Avast! 7 Free for about a week and began experiencing BSOD after a recent Windows Updates for Windows XP Media Center SP3.  The system kept crashing and rebooting during startup.  Hardware issues were ruled out by running hardware diagnostics for several hours.  Uninstalling Avast! 7 was the only effective means of allowing the system to run with the current updates from Microsoft.  The system reboots so quickly that I was not able to record infromation from the BSOD.  This situation seems similiar to Windows XP Pro at last update crash with BSOD 0x0000007E and avast! 4 home  (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31967.0).
