Title: how do i know if my internet is through a proxy server

How do i know if my internet is through a proxy server. I can't host games and can't get bearshare to work. (What  p2p program is good?)

Does your ISP tells you use a proxy server?
Did you set yourself a proxy server?

If both questions are answered with no, you don't use a proxy server.
To make sure check your connection settings.

It is likely your firewall that is not setup correctly that is blocking things.

If you use a router, you may need to forward ports.

Depends what your looking for in thr P2P program, if your loking for a spyware free one use WinMX, if your looking for  one that only downloads full albums bittorrent is proberly the best, otherwise bearshare is fine.

Bearshare is an excellent program, but hesitant to install it on my new system as you have to download the SAVE program and weathercast, when I installed it on my old  system I got a virus as well. think it was in weathercast, hope this helps  :)
