Does my security set-up seem OK ?

Hi Folks, I have the following set-up on my new PC and wanted to find out if I have anything which could lead to problems

Avast IS 7 suite - full mode (windows firewall off)
MBAM Pro with real time enabling on
Secunia PSI 3 with real time monitoring on
Winpatrol paid version constant monitoring
SuperantiSpyware - on demand
IE9 with WOT & Webrep

I want to try to ensure I am protected as best is possible but at the same time I do not want to overload myself unnecessarily

Any comments appreciated

sorry..its like a mini-HIPS...u can use it if u understand the guide otherwise its fine.

I think you have enough there on your system now, emet will only bog it down unnecessarily and your winpatrol is already a simple hip's.

I think you're right craigb I will keep things as they are unless there are possible issues with the set-up or anyone recommends changing one thing for another

@ AndyonlineYou're fine with what you have.
There comes a point when too much is too much.
Part of a safe computer is also in the hands and head of the user.
Think twice before you click on a link that you aren't sure about.
Maybe a little research before clicking when one isn't sure, can prevent a lot of danger.
Winpatrol is great at pointing out new things and is usually a pretty good guide as to what to do with something new.
Enjoy your computer and the internet and let the programs you currently have keep you safe
aided by a little caution and common sense on your part.

Agreed don't bog your system down, some HIPS applications are likely to be quite chatty (e.g. asking questions, is this or that OK to run, etc.), what you have is quite reasonable. When you become a slave to the security software that you have installed you have the balance wrong, it is they that should be your slave.

You could add a program that thwarts the autorun/autoplay function that Windows uses on removable media (does it still do so in Vista, 7, 8?).

Bitdefender has USB Immunizer, which presumably works in exactly the same manner, http://labs.bitdefender.com/projects/usb-immunizer/overview/

Both programs are free to use.
