I am using Internet Download Manager to handle my downloads and I have put Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe in the virus configuration screen (see screenshot). After doing this, I went to download the eicar zip file but no virus was detected until I tried to open it. It appears therefore that Avast does not normally scan downloaded zip files. Am I right and can the option be changed? Also, is there an option to either show the results of a downloaded files scan (e.g., Norton uses the option \noresults) or not?

My guess (and its nothing more) is that it should have been ashServ.exe as the scanning prog but by all means have that confirmed or try it out and see if it works

There really should be ashQuick.exe there, not ashCmd or ashServ.
The showing of the scan results can be configured in avast! options (page "Common" - "Show Results of Explorer Extension").

My error, sorry. I can confirm that it is working now (I turned on "Show Results of Explorer Extension" just to check). Thanks.
