After removing viruses ang trojans, next step?
« on: September 12, 2012, 05:53:57 PM »
Hi,  I want to thank the forum users for all the post and threads regarding sirefef and windows\assembly\gac\destop. ini. I was able with the Avast products in conjunction with Antimalwarebytes and CureIt and Sophos and Avenger to rid my pc of most of the pesky critters. Now, though I believe my startup stuff has been corrupted as my desktop icons won't stay where they are and even after I uncheck all the desktop properties things, like align to grid and auto arrange it still boots up with them enabled, and, of course, boot up slower before it gets into the windows choices like xp. Otherwise, everything seems to be in order and I keep rescanning.

So, how can I return my boot up or desktop areas to a more normal setting or what it should be? I won't try any more fixes until I hear from forumites as I know this has surely happened to a lot of users in here, or they wouldn't be viewing or replying, OK, thanx for listening, hope you can help me, rd
