False positive?
« on: March 31, 2005, 01:29:07 AM »
I receive the following information from an avast user:

Quote
Avast (latest version) running under Windows XP (SP2) identifies Gibson Research's DCOMBobulator as a Trojan virus. I had a backup copy in a second folder, and it picked out both of the files as Trojans.

Is this a misidentification by the virus database?

Please advise as to what information you need, in addition to the above query, to answer this question. Also, is there a forum area in which this inquiry should be posted? I did a search on "Gibson Research" and only found references that it's a good idea to turn off DCOM (which I had done).

Seems a false positive... Karel, can you confirm? Thanks.  ;)

I don't get any detection with the latest VPS update, so it has been probably fixed.
