size on disK?
« on: December 18, 2013, 01:47:49 AM »
Last spring we reformated and reloaded win vista on my brothers machine. Vista and his programs took up approx. 24 gigs on the hard drive.

Recently I checked how much of his hard drive was being used by checking "properties" for the C drive. It says that there is 95 Gigs being used on the drive! He has not installed any new software or programs to account for this.

I used windows explorer to open the c drive and added up the properties of the various folders and they totaled approx 25 gig??

Where is the other 70 gig coming from. I noticed he had about 7 restore points.

Could there possibly be some malware storing something on his drive or something. Malwarebytes and Avast do not find anything.

Am I missing something here? Any one got any ideas what is using all the space and why it doesn't show up in the folders for windows?
