Block and/or Delete Unauthorized Software Update Notice
« on: January 14, 2014, 08:28:53 PM »
Hello, newbie here to this user forum. So, be easy on me, please.
I was wondering if there is a way to block and or delete a potential hazardous software update notification in windows xp. This update notice appeared when I was trying to access a PBS website for embedded code for an American Experience episode I wanted to share with my class reunion website. I was requested to sign into using Google/Chrome (which is my default browser) and as soon as I clicked on the google sign-in icon, I noticed a update notification in my task bar.  I have restarted my pc, but opted for no software update to be installed, thinking it may be deleted upon restart. No Dice!
Below is the link to MS which leads me to believe there is something not quite right as this smells like a rat, that has bit me before. Any assistance would be most helpful.
Thank you very much in advance.

if you want a malware check, follow guide and attach logs.    http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

we need Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR logs
