Computer Shuts Down When Running Full Scan

When I run a full system scan... my computer shuts down.

Any ideas as to why??

I do not get any type of report as to what or if anything was found....having lunch to day with an acquaintance in the IT industry said I was infected with something that somehow got by my AVAST! ....  he uses Avast! at home also... but still need to know why or what it could be causing it to shut down.

does it shut down when scanning .....or when scan is finish?

if it is the last one ...it can be sett in scan settings

while I was finding my way here... i downloaded and started a scan of Malwarebytes... it already has 3 malwares detected.  I will check your link next.
Now as to changing the setting your mentioned would you please amp it for me....  example:  Avast/settings/ ... /.... /...

Open user interface,click scan/settings/scheduling,middle of page uncheck shut down after scan.

Thank You much for the map......Well the shut down after scan was not checked to begin with...

Will start new scan .... had 20 malwares and currently running superantispyware then will run avast! again in the morning.

instead of saying jr member under my name it should read: nearly computer illiterate....

when done, attach Malwarebytes and Superantispyware logs (guessing SAS only found tracking cookies)

then from the guide i gave you, run OTL and attach the log ....
a malware expert will then check for any leftovers and help you remove if needed
