Uninstalling Avast
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:03:07 PM »
I installed Avast a couple of weeks ago and my computer has been operating badly since then. Internet pages won't load correctly. I'm getting constant "software" update pages every time I try to access any site. I tried uninstalling Avast but it doesn't show up as a program on my machine. I tried downloading the uninstall directly from the Avast website but it won't load correctly because it keeps telling me my computer has to be in Safe mode. I'd really like to get this off my machine. Any suggestions appreciated.

did you remove your previous used or factory installed AV before installing avast?
did you uninstall according to vendors instructions?

What os/sp ?
What exact version of avast?
Any other security (related) software installed? (or was there and if so how did you remove it?)

What do you mean with "Internet pages won't load correctly" ?

Thanks for the replies. I'm running XP. Some pages will only partially load. Some just constantly display the loading symbol but nothing gets loaded. I'm not running any other virus or security programs other than Windows. I disabled the Windows Firewall even though I added Avast as an exception. Should I try reloading Avast?

Thank you very much for the help. The malware software scan seems to have helped. I just checked a site I've been having trouble with and it appears to be back to normal.

Hello,
Is this company computer?

I see you have been used avenger. Can you provide me the script or his log to see what you're aimed
C:\Avenger

Some just constantly display the loading symbol but nothing gets loaded.
This seems like caching problem. This can be solved by cleaning browser cache and reseting browser back to defaults.

I tried uninstalling Avast but it doesn't show up as a program on my machine.
The uninstall registry key is missing therefore you do not see the avast's uninstall.exe in add or remove programs.
You can try two things if official uninstall tool seems it does not work.

- You can download fresh avast! AV setup and preform repair and later you can uninstall the software from add or remove.
- You can try the AppRemover if solution above does not work.

Hi, no, this is my personal computer which I use in my office. It's not linked to anyone else's system.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by Avenger. Was that one of the programs I was asked to run yesterday?

Asked from who? The worked folder for Avenger was created 2014-09-17 at 13:59.
It does not contain any data since the folder size is zero bute.

Continue with the other suggestions.
