Avast update crashed computer
« on: November 10, 2014, 09:33:49 PM »
Hi,

I have Avast Antivirus and Internet security (that I paid for) and one of these updates gave me the blue screen and 2 options - 'Launch Startup repair' and 'Start windows normally'.

Selected 'Launch Startup repair', got message 'Windows loading files' and then it went back to those 2 options.

Selected 'Start windows normally', got message 'starting windows'.. and then it just died. The computer powers up for a couple of seconds and goes silent again.

I saw a few posts about starting in 'safe mode' for related problems.. but I do not even get an option to start in safe mode.

Can anything be done? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

Safe mode is accessed by pressing the F8 key as the operating system boots.
