Some real-time shields turned off

After a recent update to my Avast Free 2015, I am receiving a "Some real-time shields turned off" error message. Has the Win 8.1 64 bit operating system have anything to do with this error, please? If yes, is there a fix in the pipeline?

Avast works fine on x64 Win8.1 systems, first step is to try a repair of Avast via the uninstall feature in Remove Programs then reboot.

If the first step fails then I suggest a clean install of avast.

If a clean install of Avast! doesn't work. Post an FRST Log
