Starting AVAST Without Opening .EXE?
« on: January 31, 2015, 06:43:41 PM »
I can guess the probable answer, but have to ask.

Am trying to troubleshoot a family member's PC from afar using TeamViewer and it looks like something has managed to inhibit the running of many .EXE files.   Some run, others (including AvastUI.exe) just freeze up the window.    Am unable to run RegEdit or anything else that requires Admin authority, and UAC cannot be disabled.

Part of the fallout is that Avast is not autostarting when the PC boots and it is running unprotected.

So, The Question: Is there any way to get Avast running without invoking AvastUI.exe (or any other .exe) ?
