Avast With Crystal Reports Sever 2008 Blue Screen
« on: June 18, 2015, 12:14:27 PM »
Hi I have been having issues with my laptop at work for some time now, getting blue screens a lot even formatted a few times.
Me being a Avast fanatic I told my company i refuse to install McAfee the standard company anti-virus, I want Avast, so I payed for it myself.

Now I realized what the problem was:

Every time Avast does a "Deep Scan" for some of Crystal Reports Server 2008's procedures it give this error (located in Avast Logs):
[0618/113757:ERROR:ipc_channel_win.cc(171)] pipe error: 109
[0618/114259:ERROR:gpu_child_thread.cc(143)] Exiting GPU process due to errors during initialization
[0618/114259:ERROR:ipc_channel_win.cc(171)] pipe error: 109

In my last case I was trying to import a BIAR file to my Repository in the Business View Objects of Crystal and then in the middle of the import process to the database the "Avast Deep Scan" pops up and then as soon as that popup is fully on screen i receive a Blue Screen with the error:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I tested this a few times and it was not a coincidence for sure.
I spent a huge amount of time on this so I hope Avast can fix this because i want to go back to Avast ASAP.

I am running windows 8.1 x64 with that Crystal Reports Sever 2008 x86.

EDIT: I forgot to mention everything was fixed when i uninstalled Avast, I had no blue screens on this laptop i'm working on.
Guess you can also disable that Deep Scan if someone else also have this problem.

Kind Regards
Christoff
