Avast Pro and Windows Defender
« on: August 13, 2015, 10:44:16 AM »
I've always believed that only one AV should be used at a time, but am wondering if it is OK, (and if so of any advantage), to run both Avast Pro and Defender together on the one computer?

Hi Bill :)

First and for all : Windows Defender on Win 8 and 10 is full Anti Virus, while on Win XP, Vista and 7 it is an aditional Anti Spyware.

Windows Defender on Win 8 and 10 : Running two full Anti Virus programs is bad idea https://blog.kaspersky.com/multiple-antivirus-programs-bad-idea/
Windows Defender on Win XP, Vista and 7 : It doesn't do that much.

A better option would be to replace it by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

OS: Win 10 / iOS 17 / Debian 12 / Tails 6
Real Time: Avast Premium Security
On Demand: Malwarebytes
VPN: NordVPN ( NordLynx ) with Threat Protection ( Lite )
