Need to reinstall Internet Security... do I install Free first, then upgrade?

Hi... I'm new to Avast.  Installed the Free version other day and upgraded to Internet Security. Worked fine.

Upgraded by PC to Windows 10 yesterday and now Avast's firewall won't turn back on. (and can't use Defender either.)

So decided to uninstall and reinstall Avast... I have the free version install file but since I upgraded... how can I get that right version without paying again? Will it automatically know that I upgraded? I see my license on my Avast account but not sure what I'm supposed to do with it... 

what do I do?

please advise...

A few reboots would have cured the firewall problem in 10

However just install AIS and insert the license file
