BRONTOK-C and BRONTOK-A NOT detected
« on: November 22, 2005, 12:17:28 PM »
It seems that avast 4.6 pro build Nov2005 (4.6.731) with VPS file version 0547-0 does not detect the worm BRONTOK-A or BRONTOK-C.

Other Virusscanners detect them just fine....

Do you have a sample of it?
I mean, an infected file to be sent to virus@avast.com for analysis?
Thanks.

Hey this is about brontok right so i have something to say

I have a sample of a brontok virus, and i have scanned them at Jotti and VirusTotal, but they give different results about avast. Jotti shows that avast can't detect it (and it's the only one can't) but virustotal result shows that avast can detect it...

Can anybody help, which one should I prefer? should I send this sample to avast?

;D God Bless Us All  ;D

Should I send this sample to avast?
It's not necessary.
Both Jotti and VirusTotal will release the samples to the antivirus companies.

I believe that Jotti uses the avast 4 Linux version and VirusTotal uses the windows version (or the other way round, not sure), that may well account for the different results for the same AV.
