Avast Do Not Care About Their Customers
« on: September 22, 2015, 01:14:31 PM »
As one can read below Avast were aware of a glitch their update caused with certain https logon sites.

It was reported here http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe and my bank had reported it to them before I got in touch.

Their response that "it is safe to have HTTPS scanning disabled as long as the web shield is active." would seem to indicate that HTTPS scanning is a bloat superfluous part of the prog or an easy getout.

Did they send out an email to customers or press release or even inform their backup staff about the problemNO

Any indication that they are working on the problem No

Any indication that they will let me know when an prob fixing update is available No

Does this add up to an interest in keeping my custom Hardly

After the last update I cannot come through to my netbank.

After keying the second code in I get a Error code :ssl_error_bad_mac_read

I am not the only one, my bank Nordea Danmark were aware of the problem and say that they have told you about this.

When are you going to do something about this.

My 3 machine 2 year license runs out in December if you want any hope of me renewing, contact me soon remember there are many free Virus Progs out there and I don't need the hassle.

Hello,

Thank you for the message.

I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced such a problem.
To resolve this issue, please try to reinstall Avast completely using avastClear uninstall utility.
Download avastClear.exe uninstall utility to your desktop (or other convenient location) from this address: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Run it, let it restart the computer to the Safe mode OR Restart the computer and load the Safe mode manually, then run the utility.
Follow the instructions of the utility, locate your Avast version and click on REMOVE.
Reboot your computer back into the normal mode (it should load automatically).

Then install Avast Antivirus again running the newest version - download the installer, double-click to launch it and follow the onscreen wizard.
The installation file can be retrieved here:
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe

I am also sending you your license file in attachment, you can apply it to the program directly during installation or after it was already installed.
Doing so, you can follow these instructions: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB1#articleContent (during installation)
and/or http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB7#articleContent (activation of the already (re)installed program)
In the future you can anytime retrieve your license if you own a paid one by entering your registered email address at http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php or by accessing your account at id.avast.com (if you already have one) to download the file from the Licenses section.
Once done, reboot the PC and see how your banking access behaves now.

If this does not help and the initial problem reappears, please create a support package.
For this download the Support package generator from http://utils.support.tools.avast.com/tools/support/utils/avastsupport.exe and run the tool
Click on Generate now button, let the program run and collect all the data and then send me the generated *.zip file (it can be found by simply clicking on the address and name of the resulting support package in the Support package generator interface) in attachment to your reply.

In addition, please specify which web browser (type and version) or special banking client you use.

We'll do our best to find out what might be causing the problem and how to solve it.

Thank you!

I have tried to uninstall with Clear and reinstall, to no avail BEFORE I got in touch.

AS I wrote below, my bank has informed Avast of this problem because of other customers problems with your product after an update.

In the meantime I have found this answer on the Avast Forum "https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=176047.0" which describes pretty much my problem with my Bank, Tax, Official Public Message Box ETC One says that it is a KNOWN problem.

They also say that it might be fixed in an update, how soon?

At the moment I have removed Avast from my computers and am running AVG on a 30 day trial as it works without problems.

If you can tell me when the problem will be fixed I might go back to Avast.

Any ideas as to when please.

Hello and thanks for your reply, Anthony,
I have discussed the issue with the appropriate team.
If you could, please try to install the antivirus again, reproduce the problem (so that it gets recorded in the logs) and send me the support package per my previous instructions as well as the relevant information on your web browser type and version, it will help up speed up the resolution of the case.
For the time being, if you decide to keep using the Avast antivirus, it is safe to have HTTPS scanning disabled as long as the web shield is active.
Thank you for the understanding.

An acknowledgment that Avast has received the Zip file would be civil.
And Avast will email me when it has solved the problem, i presume, as it is interested in its customers? Also after it has got its money and then much later changes the program so it gives difficulties to many.

I see I am not going to get any reply.

Not interested in keeping customers?
