Ads
« on: November 15, 2015, 01:38:08 AM »
I use Google Chrome and lately these ads have been showing up on Netflix and other websites even though I have two adblockers installed. There is a screenshot of what is looks like in the dropbox link. Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance!

Add blockers do not block all adds.
Most have a agreement with advertisers to allow certain adds.

If you want a check for malware:

For Adblockers do not block all ads I have to precise that. Yes adblockers can allow some ads, but you have to allow that via the settings. And in very rare cases (seen it on youtube sites for instance) the adlaunchers can circumvent adblockers and beat their technology.

uBlock Origin blocks all ads by default, Adguard (not free) also blocks all ads by default, allthough you can allow certain non-intrusive ads. Letting ads through is the adblocker income stream because they ask for allegedly 30% of the revenue of ads they let through for big players. That is why some parties now started to launch pay-wall block adblocker sites (Bild magazine in Germany etc.). With an adblocker up you cannot visit the site, to see the site without ads you have to pay, meaning they do not want to pay for bandwidth that visitors with adblockers up use.

I do Adguard beta testing and I am very pleased with the versatility of the program that comes to filter all the sites I visit.
Adware can lead to pests and one cannot enter the Interwebs without a decent adblocker enabled nowadays.

Using a good Hosts file is very effective at blocking ad servers.  Being a simple text file, you can easily add/edit domains as needed.  http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
