i donnow how to modify successfully my firewall settings on my XP and on Avast!
i searched everywhere and nothing helped.
avast does not block access as it is not a firewall settings.
But, into the firewall settings the following programs should be allowed to connect:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup (avast! Update executable)

If you're using XP, WebShield scanning should work transparently. So, I don't see any other interaction between avast and your connection to Internet.

if i am currently trojan-free, am i allowed to turn on system restore?
No problem, you can allow System Restore again.

i have 50 processes runing i donnow exactly which are harmful and which are not
Neither do us  ;D
I mean, you need to check one by one, for instance, here: http://www.processlibrary.com/

gotcha. so the Avast! has nothing to do with my firewall problems. i allowed system restore again as adviced. but then i entered in another problem:

a script was added to my rundll32.exe file in my /system32 file. you know i can't actualy delete the file, and Ewido doesn't catch any problem :'(
