Unable to create Rescue Disk
« on: July 25, 2016, 05:23:42 AM »
Hi,

I'm unable to create Rescue Disk. I tried creating both - USB and .iso. However, avast just displays, "Downloading toolkit..." and does nothing.
I'm using Avast Free
Program version: 12.1.2272 (build 12.1.3076.6)
Virus definitions: 160724-0
OS: Windows 10 Pro

Is there a way to do this from the command prompt?

If you aren't happy in using a beta build, I believe I have seen something in the forums about disabling the avast self-defence module - avastUI > Settings > Troubleshooting.  I could be wrong but it is worth a try

This may resolve the issue as a temporary workaround until the fix gets into a regular program update. Enable the self-defence module when done.

That worked when the problem existed. It has been solved in the latest beta.

Thanks for the confirmation, it was mainly for those who might not feel comfortable using a beta build, but wanted to use the create rescue disk function.

As long as the function works, I create a new rescue disc (USB), each time a new version of Avast is released.
Doing this makes sure the function hasn't broken again and, the newer the version of the rescue disk is, the better. :)
