What type of virus is this?
« on: February 04, 2006, 06:58:08 AM »
Hi,

My friend is in trouble.
He has been infected by a worm or some type of virus that keeps restarting his computer every 1 minute or something.

Does anyone know what type this is?
If you do please tell me the removal tool for it and I will send it to him and tell him to start in safe mode etc...

Thanks,

Henry

 :)  There is NO way we could possibly answer this question;
      what security-oriented programs ( Antivirus, antispyware,
      antitrojan ) does your friend have on his computer ?
      We need info on what Operating System he has, etc .

He said he doesn't update his anti virus etc  :-\

  I looked up this application (n?svc.exe) on google and got u guys. I need more help than what I read. My avg 7.1 found this and says error on reading file. The firewall drives me nuts with this thing trying to gain access to the internet. I always deny it. The more I deny it the more my comp screws up! Ends up being a connection issue. I cannot find this anywhere in Windows32 registry.This is as much info as I could find;
Application: n?svc.exe
Full Path:C\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\N?SVC.EXE
Local Address  Local Host 1096
Remote Address:72.37.157.36:80
Connection: TCP
Direction  out

Well, if you were running avast!, I'd tell you to run a boot-time scan - but with AVG, I'm afraid it's out of our subject.

How about blocking it in your firewall but have it remember your choice, hopefully that way you will only have to deny it once.

Could this be a good time to jump ship, as an ex AVG user (over 20 months ago) I'm now a very happy avast user ;D along with many others. Not to mention the support of these forums ;D

is it the sort of virus that tells him he has 60 seconds to back up whatever he is working with because the system has to shut down?
