Yes, MBAM is somewhat memory hungry, the issues is that there are actually three elements mbam.exe, mbamservice.exe and mbamscheduler.exe and their combined total can get high.

Only two running services now, MBAMService.exe (240mb) and mbamtray.exe (3.7mb), there is still mbam.exe (39mb) though that is only running if the UI is open.

It does look like they are trying to get a grip on its memory footprint then, but still high.

That said given that MBAM 3.0 is taking on more (AV related) tasks, I would guess it isn't going to be easy.
