Avast keeps turning itself off
« on: January 05, 2017, 05:35:50 AM »
My Avast free version on Windows 10 repeatedly turns itself off.  I have to click "resolve all" and then it turns itself back on for a week or two.  Then the same thing occurs, no matter how often I resolve the issue.  I've tried updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling the program and it continues.

Is any previous used AV fully removed?  >>  https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle

It had none.  It was a brand new Dell that came with a downloadable virus scanner, which I never installed.  It only had Windows Defender on it.

It's a trial version. Even if you didn't use it, it's installed and interferes with any other AV you may choose to install.
It needs to be totally removed if you expect Avast to work properly.
Use the link I provided to guide you how to get rid of McAfee and install Avast:

No, there was no trial version.  It came with nothing installed.  I was given a download link for Kaspersky, but I never downloaded it.  There was no trialware of any AV preinstalled on the system.
