AOL to charge for E-Mail?
« on: March 05, 2006, 08:11:19 AM »
I found an interesting article concerning AOL and e-mail. If your
interested then please go HERE .
"Truth or Fiction" site has this to say about this article. If you want to see what they say then please go HERE to read about it. If AOL is allowed to start in this manner then what else could their actions do to the Internet?

The petition to stop AOL from charging potential spammers was started by
Moveon.org. One of the biggest political spammers out there....IMHO  ;D

However, AOL and the rest who'll soon join this bandwagon still shouldn't be getting away with this.

I should have the right to decide what mail I deem as SPAM. Paying a fee to AOL or any one else,
"doesn't make a rotten apple smell any less".

Absolutely.

But shouldn't AOL have the right to set its own business practices too?  Then, if its customers and investors decide that don't like the product anymore they can simply spend their money elsewhere.

And really, if Moveon.Org doesn't like it why don't they just start their own ISP.  They certainly have the financial backing.

Hi bob3160,

Is not this a bit like the Symantic deal with Hotbar to qualify their adware threat as "low", so user would allow the crap on? If interested "business-parties" start to deal on these issues the end-user aka "victim it seems is always at the wrong end of the stick. If regulation is left to the market, a sort of thing we see being established worldwide, de facto we are running out of defenses or it is getting harder to keep them up.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

And haven't all (or most) of us on this forum walked away from Symanec and similar products because we found companies like avast! that provide a better product and respect us?

I beleive acceptable alternatives will always exist.

This didn't take long!
Do-gooder AOL says it won't tax nonprofit e-mail
They just needed to find out that their loss would be greater than their gain...... ;D ;D ;D
Hit'em in the pocket book. It works every time.  Hit them a little harder, they'll forget the whole thing.
