Cannot read files

Also, after every scan avast says I have over a thousand files which cannot be scanned which all start with either:
amd64
wow64
WINDOWS
does this happens when you back up your files on an external drive because this is what I have done. Thanks again

Windows update files

Run CCleaner and they should be gone at next scan  http://www.piriform.com/

Oh ok, so they are not needed, and no harm will come from deleting them? Also what is wow64? Can I keep them if need be? Are they useful? Thanks

CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) remove unnecessary files with one click and it is safe

I use it with default settings and have never ever had a problem
