is or is not? mytob.lx help!!!!
« on: June 04, 2006, 04:04:04 PM »
4 weeks ago- typically user-
I opened a  mail   (hotmail security. blabla bla) and clicked on a link. immediately  I realised- big stupid error and interrupted all.
now I got on 1 day 3 strange mails.
two told me that they coundn't find my querries in their files- i nerver wrote to these companies and the 3. was  weird.
my mother  sent me a mail with sender and receiver my email account not hers.
she isn't a hacker and does not have  my password.
i used the avast cleaner, but nothing showed up.
my daughter told me that this ugly thing in subject could be responsible- but i am one this site and it means - this can not be this virus
any very clever ideas around here  about this???

Hi maqus,

Difficult to say what mail virus you have, but the random use of mail addresses reminds me of a Win32.Zafi infection, you could try the free removal tool from here:

http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Download/browseFreeRemovalTool/

If it is mytob get the free removal tool here:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.mytob@mm.removal.tool.html

Try to get some more specific info, OS, name of infected file, or try to upload the infected mail link to jotti to get a name of the malware, or scan with Avast pre-hyperlink scanner from inside your browser.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.
