Hello Everyone!!!- Virus protection question....
« on: October 11, 2006, 03:10:31 AM »
Does the FREE virus version of AVAST have a NON-Active/Non-Resident scanning feature??

I would really appreciate the input....Thanks..

Bart

Compaq Presario SR1720NX
WinWp Home and AOL SSC as the "Active" Virus/Spyware/Firewall. For Non-Resident/Not active/scan upon demand, I have a few that, so far, have NOT conflicted.
For Virus-     Bit Defender-8 and ClamWin....
For Spyware-   Ewido(AVG), Super Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and Windows Defender
The Ewido and Bit-Def and ClamWin are nice because they can be utilized when someone sends you an attachment... You can right click on the file and scan it with all 3 PRIOR to opening.
I am still new at ALL this but I'm trying. Thank you for your time and effort...

Do you mean you want to use it (with avast installed) or you want to have in the disk only a non-resident scanner?
avast is not a good second, backup, non-resident scanner. Even disabling it, conflicts could happen.

What will be your resident antivirus in this situation?
Which is your operational system?
