missing dll
« on: March 22, 2007, 02:04:53 PM »
i needed to reformat my primary hard drive recently. since then, i downloaded avast 4 home. now i am understanding that i am missing the following dll;
c:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\Setup\setiface.dll
can somebody please assist me?
i have tried to remove the program and redownload it but because of the missing dll, i am unable to do so. i also have downloaded and attempted to reinstall over top and i still get the missing dll error.
i am a musician, and not very savy to computers.
have a great day!

Why do you understand it is missing (have you checked the location using windows explorer ?) or are you getting errors displayed, if so what.

If the file is missing:
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

If that doesn't work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.

thank you for your reply.
i know the dll is missing because windows gives me an error message saying the dll is missing when i attempt to uninstall. i also get the same error when i attempt to open the program. this error does not alow me to repair or uninstall, as i have made many attempts.

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD so you can find it later.

Run this utility and reboot then try the install again.
