Installing avast! for just one user in XP?
« on: May 06, 2007, 09:54:01 AM »
I myself got recommended avast! by a friend, before this I hadn't had a virus program,  because I considered all the others more of a nuisance than a help. After downloading avast! I found that a I really liked it (and that I had a Trojan on my system  :-\ ) so I kept it. However, that was on my laptop, which I am allowed to put on whatever because I own it, however, there is also the family pc and I would like to put avast! on it, but, my brother unfortunately, does not like avast! for the main reason that he finds the little database updated, new version available, DCOM exploit blocked yadayadayada, and the icons in the start bar. SO, I was wondering if there was a way I could install avast! on my profile alone, and not have my brother see all the little database updated pop-ups that he finds annoying. Is there a way? Please help.

No, there isn't such an option because the antivirus affect all the system.
But you can set avast this way:
1. Disable the system tray icon.
2. Disable all updates notifications.
3. Remove all avast warnings (including the virus warning if I'm not wrong). The virus will be blocked but won't show the virus alert.
You could see 'Settings' in my signature to find a lot of avast4.ini tweaks.
