Hi, I am a computer novice and I do not like Avast! free for home as I do not find it user friendly at all - I wish I had stayed with AVG free. I want to uninstall this AV program but the above mentioned DLL files are in the virus chest under system files. I have googled these DLL files and they are not something that I should be removing but I am sure (at least i think) if I uninstall Avast! free for home then I will lose these files as I am denied access to restore them.  From what I have read from googling these files, people who removed them, in particular wsock32.dll, have had serious problems with their computer. I would really appreciate some expert advice on this and I thank you in advance  :-[

These are only backup copies and you will not experience any difficulty uninstalling the program.

Did you try ashSimp2.exe (the skinless version of avast)?
