Copernic Search and 1098
« on: December 09, 2007, 09:42:23 PM »
Did not notice this before, but Copernic Desktop Search (both versions 2.1.1-German and 2.2-English) hang 1 CPU of my dual core at 100%. Initially it is OK, but soon the % goes up and stays there. I cant say Avast is the cause, but it started a few days ago.

How do I completely disable Avast to test it (could not find a "quit" option")? Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

Thanks!

You need only check the Windows Task Manager to see what application is taking up the CPU %.
Though I'm not sure if/how the Task Manager would represent the two processors.

You can right click the avast 'a' icon, select Stop on-access protection, whilst that doesn't stop the avast services there is no resident scanning enabled so there shouldn't be any increase in CPU activity related to avast scanning. When you are done with your tests, right click the avast 'a' icon, select Start on-access-protection or reboot.
