Outlook 2007/Avast Home 4.7 freezing
« on: January 11, 2008, 06:37:31 PM »
Running Home 4.7 on XP Pro. Every time i receive and/or send emails, my system becomes unresponsive. For example, i am working in Adobe Illustrator and suddenly the mouse is unresponsive. I shake the mouse, no motion. I hit alt/tab to switch applications, no response. i look down in the taskbar tray and notice the avast icon spinning (albeit choppy motion). The mail arrives, my "new mail" sound alerts me that i have mail, 15 or so seconds pass by and the system is responsive again.

Anyone experiencing this?

We will need more information to be able to help you:
- Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
- Do you use a firewall? Which one?
- Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?  Did you have in the past?
- Any other security programs that could interfere?

Can you disable PeerGuardian, boot and test?
I think the problem can't be on Spybot or AdAware...
It's difficult to guess... it's like a shot in the dark...
