avast 4.8 outlook/exchange
« on: April 04, 2008, 08:33:42 PM »
Is it safe to turn off outlook/exchange resident provider if I do not have these programs?
Also I don't use P2P programs, can I disable that one also?
I use Thunderbird for Email.
So far 4.8 is working OK Windows XP SP2.

Yes... if you remember, in the future, for any reason you start to use these programs, to turn on the providers again.

Thanks, the heuristic scanner already found a suspicious junk email.

That provider is normally disabled unless you have MS Outlook (not express) installed on your system ?

OK. So is the antispyware and rootkit running all the time in the background? I can't find any settings or anything at all about the antispyware or rootkit.
Using the free version.

David,

had to stop and think about what you meant in your last post. Now I realize that you probably mean "not" rather than "now".  However, the typo is, as it stands, a bit misleading.

Thanks Alan, some typo, I often bump into keys, though the 't' is some distance from 'w'
I rely on my (sic) smell checker to get me out of trouble, but it doesn't help when the typo is a valid word ;D
